On March 13, 2020, our team paid a visit to the Barangay Makabod of Sitio Laan Rizal in search of a water source to treat. The townsfolk have to walk kilometers away or take a tricycle just to get drinking water. With the rising problem of the COVID-19, it is important that there is a nearby drinking water source they can tap in to ensure safety and healthy water.
With our team's capability of water sourcing, we went ahead to locate the water source in the area. We had a little chat with the people living there asking them about their situation in their water needs. A townsperson said...
"Bumababa pa po kami Sir para makakuha ng tubig na maiinom. May Tricycle naman paminsan, kaya okay lang"
Another one said...
"Meron naman pong poso na tinayo noon, pero di rin po namin mainom at ang lansa po ng lasa. Parang may lasang bakal"
With these information, we knew we had to act and do something about it. Knowing that it had a metallic taste, Iron (Fe) was definitely present in the water. To be sure, we had to confirm this. We went and gone hiking for a few kilometers and was able to locate surface water. Our technical personnel helped us get some and we had it tested for its level of TDS, TSS and Turbidity. Surprisingly, the quality of the water passes the Philippine National Standards of Drinking Water (PNSDW), but had no assurance that it was potable due to the lack of disinfection of the water in the area.
So our engineers formulated a proposal for the process to help satisfy this issues. With our experts and technology capability, we wanted to ensure how we could be of service to the people of Barangay Makabod.
On the left side, our technical expert is testing the quality of the water whilst the one in the middle is our technical personnel who helped us get the sample of water. On the right side, we took a picture with the townspeople and they were very accommodating and attentive as we give pointers to them on their situation when it comes to water. These photos were all taken from the Barangay of Makabod.
